Museum Educator Chosen for Special Workshop - Press Release

May 1, 2008 - Anne Drake, Museum Educator at the Great Lakes Children’s Museum, has been chosen from hundreds of applicants to take part in the upcoming Astronomy from the Ground Up (AFGU) workshop to be held May 7-9 in Seattle, WA, funded by the National Science Foundation. Representing the Great Lakes Children’s Museum as well as the Grass River Natural Area during this three-day professional development workshop, Anne will be trained in new astronomy education techniques and how to lead hands-on astronomy activities. By participating in this program, Anne is helping to establish a network of educators and informal education institutions to improve scientific understanding for the general public, and will bring her knowledge to the Great Lakes Children’s Museum for the benefit of the community.
