The Incredible Journey* (Grades 4, 5 & 6)

Live the planetary water cycle in this complex and exciting educational game, perfect for fifth and sixth graders. The focus of this program is on the dynamics of the water cycle: the distribution of water in the water cycle, retention time and movement. During the orientation period, students learn about some unusual properties of water molecules and create unique stickers that are used to identify them during their journey. They also prepare a journal that is used to keep track of the path they take during the game. Data from the journey and the journal are used at the end of the experience to analyze the water cycle from a new perspective. The data collected are sent back with teachers and can be used in math and science extensions in the classroom.

* This intensive program is designed for large groups of 30-50 students. Plan on one and one-quarter hours to complete the program and an additional forty-five minutes of free exploration time in the Museum and Activity Room.
