Calling anglers of all ages! Kids Free Fishing Day is back! The Traverse City Rotary Club and the Department of Natural Resources have teamed up once again to promote fishing as a fun family activity. Children of all ages are invited to come to Northwestern Michigan College’s Great Lakes Campus on June 17 and try to hook one of the 750 rainbow trout stocked in the harbor! Volunteers from community organizations will be standing by to help with fish cleaning, bait and tackle set up, and kids’ safety.

Our Mobile Museum will be there teaching kids first-hand about Gyotaku, the Japanese art of printmaking with fish. Last year, we had some amazing prints made by our young artists. We can’t wait to see the gallery of guppies that everyone creates this year!

Kids Free Fishing Day–true to its name–is completely free. You don’t even need a fishing license to participate!

So, head to NMC’s Great Lakes Campus on Saturday, June 17, 9:00am to 1:00pm for some outdoor family fun. We’ll see you there!
